“Your cat will need to be in a cone 24/7 for the next 2-8 weeks.” HA! Funny joke. How do you keep a cat—who violently thrashes about like a maniac in a collar—in a cone for over a week?! Answer: this soft cone. I never write reviews but this soft cone saved the day AND my sanity, so I felt the need to share my feedback to hopefully help another desperate pet parent like me in the future.My four year old cat had an eye ulcer (our 15-week old kitten accidentally scratched her eye), which apparently can take up to 8 weeks to heal. The vet recommended a soft cone for 24/7 wear, but advised against an inflatable cone because ya know… claws and teeth. My cat is feral barn cat (she was born in a chicken coop) and a bit on the spicy side because she’s afraid of everyone and everything, so the thought of keeping her in a cone was daunting.I bought a soft cone from the pet store that wrapped around her neck with Velcro, but it was too deep, preventing her from eating or drinking. As a natural grazer, I didn’t want to put her on a feeding schedule and instead, wanted to find a soft cone that she could comfortably wear while still being able to eat and drink. I ordered several cones but returned them all after finding this one.Not only did she look adorable as a little flower (she disagrees and probably tried to call PETA on me), but it worked! She could eat, drink, and sleep in the cone without any issues. Most importantly, she couldn’t scratch or paw at her eye. The collar part of the cone is fleece-lined and soft, with an adjustable elastic pull to tighten it if needed.She wore it for a full week and only managed to escape once, which I consider a success. She received a clean bill of health at her last checkup and the vet was impressed by her healing, thanks to this cone. I highly recommended this cone to the vet and would suggest it to any other desperate cat parents wondering how the heck they’re supposed to keep their spicy, Houdini-like furry friends in a cone to allow them to heal.
